Die Schärfe sitz ja gnadenlos perfekt auf dem Kopf des Vogels.
In dieser Pose denke ich fast, er fliegt nahezu in meinen Monitor!
Respekt - tolles Ergebnis!

Hi Neil,

what a great shot! Awesome! The Canon 5D AF is not one of the good ones, clear and sharp pictures are rare with such fast-moving objects. A Canon 1D MK III will certainly improve your results but I would recommend you to switch the AF off and use the manual focus mode instead. When a puffin approaches you, you just press the shutter release at a certain distance. Some high speed shots at 10 fps may increase the number of sharp results.

Klasse erwischt hast du diesen Puffin.Hast du den auch auf "Farne Islands" aufgenommen?

Ich war selber schon öfters in Schottland und
wir planen für dieses Jahr wieder unseren Urlaub.Da wir in Newcastle ankommen werden und mit dem eigenen Auto Richtung Edinburgh fahren, werden wir diesmal einen Abstecher machen.
Vielleicht kannst du mir ein paar Tips geben ( 1 Übernachtung B&B, Bootsfahrt )
Ich freu mich drauf und hoffe noch mehr schöne Bilder von dir zusehen.( Von der Insel )

Thanks everyone, I loved my time on Inner Farne! I found for shots like this you simply had to stand still and shoot everything. Unfortunately the autofocus of the 5D is absolutely terrible and 3 fps is not fast enough for these fast birds. I think from 400 shots I have 3 or 4 which were good...this one is the best! Mostly they are not well focussed, some on the tail, some on the belly...this one was lucky! Next time I will take a 1D mkIII or mkIV ;) But not this year, I will have a baby to look after in March.

If people are interested I am happy to answer questions on the best boats and places to stay in the area of the Farnes. :)

Das ist eine der tollsten Puffinaufnahmen die ich jeh gesehen habe. Diese Tiere stehen schon sehr lange auf meiner Wunschliste. Das bloße begegnen mit den Tieren wäre eine Genugtuung, doch eine deraritge Aufgabe ist wertvoller. Ich bin sehr beeindruckt von dieser Aufnahme.

eine großartige Flugaufnahme vom Papageitaucher! bei der Fluggeschwindigkeit dieser Art ist die Fotografie dieser Vögel im Flug technisch sehr anspruchsvoll. Beeindruckend ist die Schärfe, die genau an der richtigen Stelle im Gesicht liegt.
