This is already my favorite image of the year. A truly exciting experience, I will never forget. First this goshawk flew straight over my hide making no sound at all. I felt my heart beating and after half an hour she did the same but landed on the ground. She was nervous and after a few seconds she left, screaming like crazy. Again after 40 minutes, same thing happened. She landed, looked around and left screaming. I didn't move or touch the camera. Almost an hour later she returned but this time from the left. She landed right onto the bait. Screaming and looking around like she was chased by a ghost. After a few seconds she left but this time I pressed the shutter, holding my breath and gently squeezing the shutter release, because I realized my camera was still on iso 400 and the shutter speed was not more then 1/20 sec. It was nearly dark.
I know she lost her mate early this year and I think there's another male in the area. I wish her luck finding another mate but I blame her for giving me high blood pressure.

The bait I've used is a female black grouse

    Diesen Sperber mit Beute hast Du gestalterisch und perspektivisch sehr ausdrucksstark ins Bild gesetzt.
    Eine solche Szene fotografieren zu können gehört zu den glücklichen Momenten der Naturfotografie.

    Hallo Edwin,

    wie ja bereits viele geschrieben haben, handelt es sich hier, auch aus meiner Sicht, um ein wirklich sehr schönes und gelungenes Foto.
    Haltung, Schärfe und Licht gefallen sehr und alleine den Vogel selber so nah vor sich zu haben ist natürlich schon etwas ganz besonderes und hat schon Lob verdient.
    Also ich finds ganz stark!

    This is an amazing picture. The colours are brilliant and the sharpness at 1/20 of shutterspeed ist really impressing.
    Especially I like the feather at the neck, which looks a bit like a little star. ;)

    Nou dat is wel even en plaat. En Havik met en Korhoen, niet te slecht Bild: Lächelndes/zwinkerndes Gesicht
    Foto's van haviken zijn aal moeilijk meestal zie je foto's van de kleinere verwantschap, de sperwer.
    Zou veer ik weet, neemt alleen maar de havik aas aan of niet? De Sperwer zou dat tenminste niet nemen.

    Leuk dat je het vrouwtje kon fotograferen. Ik hoop dat ze nog en mannetje vind. Het roepen laat tenminste zien, dat ze nog zoekt. Zou en situatie hadden wij bij mij thuis ook met en Oehoe Vrouwtje, vandaag broed ze weer. Blijft te hopen dat het ook bij jou havik zou komt.

    Wat denk je van een versie die misschien een beetje donkerder uitgewerkt zou zijn? Ik weet natuurlijk niet hoe de situatie was, maar je zegt zelf, dat het aal tamelijk donker was...
    Als ik mag stuur ik jou even per mail en versie hoe ik het dacht ok? Ik gaar het daarnaar direct verwijderen...
